My name is Pat Johnston.  I am married to my wonderful wife, and we have 2 beautiful daughters.  I am currently serving as a Physical Education teacher, Head Football Coach, and Head Boy's Golf Coach at San Luis Obispo High School in California.

From a very early age I knew that I wanted to make a career out of educating and coaching young people.  I have been around football my entire life, and it has helped shape me into the man that I am today.  I was fortunate enough after a successful high school career to be invited to play football at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  After graduation, I joined the coaching staff at Cal Poly, where I served for 5 years under Head Coach Tim Walsh.  At the conclusion of those 5 years, my wife and I were expecting our 2nd daughter.  It was time to make a change, and we had a very important decision to make.  We could move around the country every couple of years pursuing bigger and better college coaching jobs, or we could plant roots in a community that we grew to love so much.  Fortunately, San Luis Obispo High School had an opening for the position of Head Football Coach.  I applied and although it was was very competitive, I was selected in March of 2014.  This coming Fall will mark my 5th season as Head Coach.
